WHY SUPPORT?

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT

Cherwell is one of the best state schools in the UK, and our students deserve access to the best available educational facilities.

Over many years the school has bid for significant capital investment but sadly has been unsuccessful. This is in addition to successive rounds of public spending cuts that have left the school infrastructure badly in need of wholesale redevelopment.

By donating and joining the Friends of Cherwell you will be helping the school to turn its ambitious improvement plans into reality, for the benefit of all its students.

Together, our regular monthly donations can make a huge difference.

Message from the Head – Chris Price

“It is such a privilege to be Headteacher of this wonderful school. I began here as a newly qualified teacher in 1992 and it has been a joy to spend my working career in such a vibrant, inspiring place.

It is sad however, that while the school has continued to grow and thrive our facilities have not been able to match this.  It is in this context that I welcome the support  from the Friends of Cherwell.

I have frequently been humbled by the dedicated support and breadth of expertise that the parent/carer community has provided to the school in recent times. Never has this support been more appreciated than in the past few years as the school has seen year on year government spending constraints result in an 8% cut in real term funding, whilst our costs continue to increase. The school has ambitious plans to develop a number of new facilities and the Friends will be vital in helping the school realise these ambitions.

The Friends provide the school a lifeline that allows us to enhance the learning experience for our students. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all the parent/carer community who contribute to the school’s endeavours.”
